Eight artists own and manage Bungendore Fine Art. Each artist has paintings on display at the gallery and can be met when they are rostered on for the day and serving customers.
The artist directors share an impressive record of prizes from local, interstate and national art shows. Each contributes their other range skills to the running of the gallery (seven days a week all year) with an exhibition by a different visiting artist almost every month. The enterprise recently had it's thirteenth birthday and over these years the gallery has exhibited over a 130 artists local or from afar. The gallery has had on show all mediums and genres of paintings. As a result of the business model where partners manage and man the gallery, paintings are in a modest price range.
The photo below has the partners celebrating the opening of the gallery on a winter's day back in June 2005. The partners at that time (from the left) are Ray Barnett, Ann Hand, Colleen Connors, Diane Alder, Robyn Weare, Pamela Phillips, Terry Davys, Robyn Power and Jane Mitchell. Over the years the crew has changed due to many reasons as partners have moved away, followed other directions but the number of partners has remained at 7 or 8 as the best arrangement for managing the gallery and keeping up with the painting time required of the partners.
Over the years new and established artists have been invited to exhibit at the gallery - hosting first time exhibitors as well as regular favourite painters to the buying public. Since beginning trading in 2005 it is estimated that the gallery has sold 5 to 6000 paintings and 18,000 art cards. Bungendore Fine Art has brought quite a bit of art to homes in the region and overseas. The majority of sales are to the local area of Canberra and Bungendore but a significant proportion are to interstate and overseas buyers. Overseas buyers especially enjoy the Australian subjects that comprises most of the paintings that are on display.
We look forward to the next thirteen years!
Over 100 artists, new and established from both the Canberra region and from afar have exhibited at Bungendore Fine Art in the past eleven years. Usually a new artist (or second or third showing of a popular aritist) is exhibited for two calendar months.

Born in Tumbarumba Sue has always been interested in all different forms of arts and crafts. With gardening her other passion she brought the two interests together in her painting. She paints all variety of flora subjects - heritage plants and vegetables along with the beautiful Australian natives with their vibrant flowers and fruits are of particular interest. She has a keen sense of design and colour which brings flair to this traditional subject.
Though painting in all mediums - oils, acrylics, pen and ink and pastels - watercolour is now her preferred medium because of its vibrancy and freshness in colours. This allows her to achieve the brilliance and subtlety of colour of the flowers, fruits and birds, especially the Australian native flora and fauna.
Many past teachers have had a great influence on Sue’s art and she has challenged herself and the boundaries by observing the different shapes, colours and the individual characters each plant had to offer, including all the imperfections.Sue has exhibited her paintings for many years at the Canberra Botanical Art Exhibition, Peter Crisp’s Glass Gallery and other local exhibitions.
Sue is a member of the Canberra Botanical Art Group and the U3A Yass Art Group. view paintings
